MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

This is our core program at Fight Academy Pasadena. These classes are taught by trained professionals who have all participated and have winning records in mixed martial arts competition. Students will learn the techniques of an MMA fighter: how to apply the fundamentals of striking, submission grappling, and wrestling and how to transition between each style. Classes begin with several rounds of jump rope followed by conditioning drills. The practical application of MMA will occur in the cage or on the mats. This is a co-ed class and contact work is done, but always in a controlled environment. MMA can be taken as a stand -alone class, however maximum skill will be achieved if taken in conjunction with Kickboxing and No Gi. Come take part in the world’s fastest growing sport!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the world’s most effective and requested self-defense methods. Our BJJ program is a fully belted program taught by experienced coaches. In this combative fighting art, students leverage the use of the gi to perform submissions and chokeholds. Students will also learn the techniques of positioning and sweeps. The class will provide you with a deep core strength workout. It is a co-ed class and close contact work is done, but always in a controlled environment. Many of our students have gained enough knowledge and training to begin competing at BJJ tournaments. This is a great stand -alone program or in conjunction with our MMA program.

Fitness Kickboxing

This fun, action-packed, 60-minute class incorporates authentic, easy to follow, kickboxing combinations performed on traditional heavy bags. Conditioning (push-ups, squats, hand weights) and ab work are also included, thus utilizing all muscle groups. This non-stop class provides both resistance training and cardiovascular benefits to its participants. It’s a fierce but fun workout appropriate for all fitness levels where you can burn up to 700 calories in one session! Come experience what all the hype is about.

According to the American Council on Exercise, kickboxing is a full-body workout that challenges all major muscle groups while improving aerobic capacity, decreasing stress, improving focus and boosting endurance. Because it requires a higher level of intensity than many other aerobic exercises, kickboxing may also promote greater gains in balance, stability and strength.

Required gear: boxing gloves and hand wraps

No Gi Grappling

No Gi (often times referred to as submission wrestling) is a vital aspect of MMA as most fights often end up on the ground. In this practical application/combative class, students learn the art of Jiu Jitsu without wearing a traditional kimono. Without the grips and submissions that the gi provides, no-gi BJJ tends to be faster paced and more dynamic. Classes begin with the standard rounds of jump rope and include conditioning drills. After the cardio aspect of the class is complete, the instruction begins. The instructor will demonstrate and teach a technique of the day. The students will then partner drill to apply the submission, takedown, or technique. This is a co-ed class and close contact work is done, but always in a controlled environment. Techniques taught in this class work equally well for self-defense or sport.
